Brave New Films, SEIU CA and California Labor Federation Premiere: “Carly No Es Mi Amiga”
“Carly No Es Mi Amiga” is part of Brave New Films’ “The Real Carly” campaign
Sacramento, CA – Dozens of members of Service Employees International Union (SEIU) California and the California Labor Federation protested at Carly Fiorina's campaign headquarters today to expose her positions on issues important to the Latino community and to declare “Carly No Es Mi Amiga.” At the rally, Brave New Films debuted a new online short by the same name, the second installment in their “The Real Carly” campaign. “Carly No Es Mi Amiga” can be viewed here.
“Carly Fiorina is trying to get Latinos to vote for her, but her positions clearly demonstrate that she does not share our values as Latinos and she does not share our values as Californians,” said Mike Garcia, president of SEIU-USWW. “She is against comprehensive immigration reform, supports Arizona’s discriminatory SB 1070 and has outsourced California jobs. We will not be fooled.”
Wearing t-shirts with embedded video display screens, a delegation of participants delivered the presentation to Fiorina’s headquarters. In addition to the rally and video debut, Brave New Films has also launched an integrated “Carly No Es Mi Amiga” online campaign which includes Facebook ads targeted at California voters and the Latino community.
“Latinos won't fall for Carly Fiorina's cynical ploy to gain their support. She's pushing more of the same failed policies that destroyed our economy and forced millions of Latinos and other workers into the unemployment line,” said Art Pulaski, executive secretary-treasurer of the California Labor Federation. “The last thing California Latinos need is Carly's anti-immigrant, job-slashing agenda.”
The video is the latest effort by Brave New Films and workers’ organizations to expose Carly’s hidden radical agenda.
“Carly Fiorina has consistently taken stances that are inconsistent with someone who would consider themselves a friend to the Latino community. Her associations with the Tea Party and Sarah Palin, combined with her endorsement of SB 1070 speak louder than her words,” said Axel Caballero, co-creator of Cuentame Central.
